The Beltway became jammed because very stupid people canceled the plan to run I-95 through the District, instead running East Coast traffic onto our Beltway, which was never designed to handle that load.<br /><br />Expansions of I-270 were always allowed to be outpaced by overdevelopment in the upcounty by the County Council, and the DC freeway system was never completed.<br /><br />These are the root causes of congestion in our area, rather than induced demand.Robert Dyerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01975969463714952623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1128562743162979576.post-27634587836627267722020-07-07T00:50:17.397-04:002020-07-07T00:50:17.397-04:00Your argument doesn't make sense. Spending bil...Your argument doesn't make sense. Spending billions on lane expansions would encourage daily commuting. By being against that, "regional officials" have made clear they DON'T favor that outdated, inefficient use of time and resources. <br /><br />Telecommuting would absolutely help predominantly residential counties like MoCo appear even more appealing. And, yes, local developers would also benefit from that increased demand for housing, as well.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
