Rockville City police responded to a report of a 2nd-degree assault on Rockville Pike early yesterday morning, July 2, 2022. The assault was reported along the street in the 1700 block of Rockville Pike at 3:00 AM Saturday.

Power outages across Rockville after early evening storm


About 3500 residents in Rockville and Derwood are without power this evening, after a thunderstorm passed through Montgomery County. The storm appeared to follow a northeasterly path through Potomac and Rockville. Pepco's estimated time for restoration of power is 12:00 AM July 3 for most of the outages. The utility is more optimistic about the outage near Wootton High School, where it expects power to be restored by 9:00 PM tonight.

Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Montgomery County, Washington, D.C. & Baltimore regions


Rockville, most of Maryland and Northern Virginia are all under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9:00 PM tonight, July 2, 2022. The National Weather Service predicts severe thunderstorms are possible this evening, which could generate wind gusts up to 65 MPH. Because local rainfall amounts may range from 1 to 3 inches over an hour-long period at times, the NWS has also issued an Areal Flood Watch for the area until 10:00 PM tonight. Creeks and streams may overflow their banks, and flash flooding is possible in urban areas.

Police called after assault at Rockville restaurant


Rockville City police responded to a 911 caller in the 1800 block of E. Jefferson Street Thursday afternoon. The individual reported having been the victim of an aggravated assault at a nearby restaurant at 4:15 PM. A weapon other than a firearm was used in the assault.

Warby Parker aims to open this month in Rockville


Warby Parker
is aiming to open by the end of the month at 11811 Grand Park Avenue at Pike & Rose. The hipster eyeglass frames chain already has locations north and south of Rockville, at Bethesda Row and Downtown Crown. Here, they will take on an immediate competitor in the Pike & Rose development, the new LensCrafters at 901 Rose Avenue.



Former Rockville City Councilman James Marrinan missing


UPDATE - 4:13 PM: Rockville City police report that Marrinan has been found "safe and unharmed."

A Silver Alert has been issued for James Thomas Marrinan of Rockville, who has been missing for two days, and was last seen here in Rockville. Marrinan, 84, served on the Rockville City Council from 1991 to 1999, and remained very active in city politics and community service for two decades afterward. He also served as a campaign manager for former Rockville Mayor Doug Duncan.

In a new development within the last hour, the Pennsylvania State Police Department has tweeted that they are also looking for Marrinan in the midstate area of Pennsylvania. They have not yet disclosed what information that possibility was based on, so residents in Rockville, Montgomery County and the Washington, D.C. region should continue to be on the lookout for Marrinan and his vehicle here. 

Marrinan is a white male, 5’10, with white hair. He is driving a 2008 Honda Accord, black or dark blue, with Maryland tag 9AB8758. Rockville City police ask that you call 911 if you see him. 

Rockville police investigate report of shots fired in parking garage


Rockville City police responded to a 911 caller who reported hearing shots fired in a parking garage in the King Farm area early yesterday afternoon. The incident was reported at a parking garage in the 800 block of King Farm Boulevard at 12:23 PM Thursday.
