Jaws, the summer blockbuster that created the summer blockbuster, turned 50 this year. To celebrate, many theaters around the country are bringing the Steven Spielberg classic back to the big screen.
Regal Cinemas Rockville Center at 199 E. Montgomery Avenue will be screening the film this
Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 1:00 PM. Tickets are limited, and
available online. I'm not sure I understand why many of these screenings have been scheduled for the fall, though; Jaws was and is very much a summer movie.

ReplyDeleteWent to see it when it came out ar Roths Quince Orchard in Gaithersburg. I was 7 years old, I've never felt safe in water or the ocean since.
ReplyDeleteI saw it first at the Rockville drive-in. I was 4 or 5. They showed two movies that evening. Blazing Saddles and Jaws. I barely remember watching Blazing Saddles. Then I remember watching the first scene of Jaws when the boy gets eaten. I don't recall being too scared but remember being disturbed. Then I fell asleep. It is one of the few, if not the only, drive-in movie memories I have. I believe the only reason I retained that memory is because of the Jaws scene.
