Sewing needles were found in Halloween candy distributed to trick-or-treating kids in Rockville last night, Rockville City police are warning. Two children were given packages of gummy bears that contained the needles, police say. Those packages were handed out at a home in the area surrounding Welsh Drive and West Edmonston Drive. The needles were embedded in the gummy bears, not just in the packages. Detectives are investigating.
Police are warning parents to inspect all candy collected by children last night. If you find any suspicious items that appear to have been tampered with, police are asking you to confiscate those items, and keep them to give to detectives. Do not throw them away.
