Cycle Gear is coming to Rockville. It will be located at 1500 Rockville Pike, in the former Party City space next to Tobacco King. The motorcycle parts, gear, and apparel retailer will be a classic Rockville Pike type of business in an age of luxury apartments gone wild. Cycle Gear was founded by motorcycle enthusiasts in California way back in 1974. Demolition of the interior is underway.
There is no longer a franchised motorcycle dealer in existence anywhere in Montgomery County, Maryland. This is a reflection on the declining number of licensed motorcycle owners within the county. To open a major parts and accessories retailer at such a prime location in the face of these daunting demographics seems overly optimistic.
ReplyDeleteThere are still a lot of motorcycle riders in Montgomery County who have been forced to ride all the way out to Howard County or PG County to buy any type of basic motorcycle supplies. I think they will do a lot of business in this area since they are filling a huge void!!!
