Da Yu Hot Pot opening Rockville location

Da Yu Hot Pot, a Chinese restaurant chain with over 300 location in China is now expanding to our side of the Pacific Ocean. Rockville, New York and Boston are the first cities to experience the Chongqing cuisine of this company founded at the turn of the century.

New York's Da Yu opened first last September, and has earned a 4-star average rating on Yelp from Manhattan diners. Construction is underway now at 1701 Rockville Pike. Da Yu will be in the vacant REI space, a few doors down from the EVEN Hotel. Have we now officially topped Annandale as the top Asian dining destination in the DC region? The case can be made.

ZHANG APPLIES FOR LIQUOR LICENSE IN ROCKVILLE

The future Zhang Restaurant and Bar at 1560 Rockville Pike has applied for a Montgomery County liquor license. Zhang will serve Chinese and Thai cuisine, and offer sushi as well. The location used to house a Chicken Out, which moved up the Pike to College Plaza.

The former location of Chicken Out at 1560 Rockville Pike is getting a new tenant. Zhang restaurant and bar will serve Chinese and Thai cuisine, as well as sushi. This is the latest addition to Rockville's varied and sizable Asian restaurant list. Mr. Bánh Mì just opened last Thursday up the Pike in the Ritchie Center.

East Dumpling House has finally opened at 12 N. Washington Street (Unit 14) in the center of Rockville.

There have been some lines, and the staff has had to adjust to the demand in the early days. Suffice it to say, many, many people in the town center area wanted to try East Dumpling House! The new restaurant has been a lunch hot spot the last few days, as a result.

The East Dumpling House hours are 10:30 AM - 10:00 PM Sunday-Thursday, and 10:30-10:30 Fridays and Saturdays.  Their phone numbers are 301-762-6200 and 301-762-6202.

What East Dumpling House offers are some specialties from the northeastern region of China, including traditional dumplings and meat or vegetable kabobs. Other house specialties include house-made tofu and soy milk, pearl milk tea, and Chinese-style potato salad. Speaking of potatoes, french fries are on the menu, as well.
