Montgomery County's moribund economy has claimed yet another victim. Lavande Patisserie at 275-B N. Washington Street in Rockville announced on Facebook that it will be closing. In the post, the bakery said it will close at the end of this month. Those holding gift cards for the business are being encouraged to use them before that time, or to receive a refund for the remaining balance on the card(s). Lavande opened here in 2015.
That's a shame, Lavande Patisserie is a nice little French Cafe, was there once with a friend.

ReplyDeleteThis line is still so lame and really doesn't apply here. This bake shop has wonderful goods, its simply in a very bad location. You had no easy parking until the city added a few perilous, street spots in front, probably under the press of owners or patrons, and its location is steps away from what you or your readers refer to as a real hood, especially when it comes to the county liquor joint across the street. I wish them well should the find a better location, but your comment is a swing and a miss.

Your "obvious" reason was the location, which can't be the explanation, as the bakery was successful for many years in that very location. Most businesses fail within the first year. What changed since 2015? The County economy, which has declined severely over the years since Lavande opened.
