2 assaults in 2 days at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda

Montgomery County police on patrol at the mall Saturday

Montgomery County police responded to two reports of assaults last week at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. A 2nd-degree assault was reported at the retail center on November 25, 2025,  at 5:26 PM. Just over 24 hours later, an aggravated assault was reported at the property. That assault was related to a shoplifting incident. These were the eighth and ninth assaults reported at the mall this year. At this pace, Montgomery Mall is likely to have fewer assaults this year than last, when eleven were reported.

Montgomery County police had a more visible presence at the mall this past weekend. Officers were wearing the new back patches that identify they are with the County police. These were demanded by the Montgomery County Council to distinguish them from ICE officere working in the County.

  2. Getting rid of the food court gets rid of the kids. Moneyed shoppers will return along with higher-end retail tenants. Food courts destroyed malls across America.

  3. Just how does MM compare crime stat wise to other regional malls. You need to gather the stats to show your readers whether this mall is any worse than others. I'd say its not.

  4. Towards the last years of Lakeforest mall there were gang stabbings ( MS 13 ) mentally ill people stabbing and killing people inside the mall, robbery and assaults. It's not going to work until you vote in prosecutors who will charge people and get mentally ill people off of the street, the woke philosophy doesn't belong in our judicial system, the judicial branch is decimated by ultra left wing woke judges.

  5. Everyone should read Chief Yamadas testimony to the pathetic assembly called the County Council. Bottom Line: Police recruits don’t want to work in this environment. Exhibit A is Lunatic Kristen Mink. She screamed defund the police and called the 3D District Commander to get her flat tire changed! Folks wake up and get these people out of elected offices.
