Rockville police release more photos of double-stabbing suspect


Rockville City police detectives have obtained some clearer images of the suspect they are seeking in connection with the double stabbing that took place near the Twinbrook Metro station on October 13, 2024. The two male victims in the case were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Anyone who can help identify the suspect, or have any information about this incident, is asked to contact the RCPD Criminal Investigations Unit at 240-314-8900, or at Detectives@RockvilleMD.Gov.

Rockville police release first photo of suspect in double stabbing


Rockville City police have released the first image of the suspect in the October 13 double stabbing near the Twinbrook Metro station. Detectives acknowledge the photo is blurry, and are still working to obtain clearer pictures and videos of the suspect from nearby surveillance cameras. Shortly before 5:30 PM on the 13th, police responded to a report of a stabbing at the Metro station. A separate call then came in for another stabbing victim in the nearby 1500 block of Rockville Pike. Both adult male victims were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police describe the suspect whom they are searching for as a Black male wearing all black clothing. The community is urged to remain aware of their surroundings while the suspect remains at large, and to call 911 if they see the suspect or observe any suspicious activity. Rockville police are expected to step up patrols in that area of the city as the search continues, the department said in a statement after Sunday's stabbing.

If anyone was in the area of the Twinbrook Metro station - or in the area of the 1500 block of Rockville Pike - Sunday evening and recalls seeing anyone matching this description, they are asked to contact RCPD criminal investigators at 240-314-8900 or at Detectives@RockvilleMD.Gov with any information, photos, or videos they can provide. Callers may elect to remain anonymous. Rockville detectives are coordinating their investigation with Metro Transit Police.

Mother and child assaulted at Rockville park


A mother and her child were both physically assaulted at a Rockville park on September 28, 2024, according to Rockville City police. Around 7:00 PM at Montrose Park at 451 Congressional Lane, the child was punched in the face by a juvenile male. When the child's mother confronted the juvenile assailant, she was assaulted by a female of unspecified age. No description of the assailants has been released as of this writing.

Rockville diner punches manager over bad service


Sometimes leaving a reduced tip, or writing a bad Yelp review, apparently isn't enough. Rockville City police are looking for a man who got violent after becoming "angry about food service at a business." The suspect was patronizing an establishment in the 2200 block of Veirs Mill Road at 4:28 PM on September 24, 2024. Angry about what he felt was bad service, he allegedly punched the store manager, and threatened to spray him with a can of mace. 

Police describe the suspect as a balding Black male of medium-build, 32 to 33 years of age, and 5'9" in height. He was wearing a white T-shirt and white sweatpants, and carrying a "large square lunch bag." Rockville police looking for knife-wielding man "wearing only brown pants"


Rockville City police are seeking the public's help in finding a man who tried to stab an acquaintance during a dispute on August 27, 2024. The suspect and the potential victim were arguing about borrowing a cell phone in the 800 block of Rockville Pike at 11:55 AM. Police say the suspect then produced a knife and unsuccessfully attempted to stab the intended victim. 

The suspect is described by police as a Black male, 50 to 59 years of age, "possibly named 'John,' [and] wearing only brown pants." If you can identify this suspect, or have any information about this incident, call police at 240-314-8900.

Dispute about public urination leads to assault in Rockville


Rockville City police responded to a report of an assault in the 800 block of Rockville Pike on August 26, 2024. Police say two suspects got into an argument about public urination with employees of a business on that block around 7:31 PM. The two suspects allegedly proceeded to assault the employees, and fled.

Police describe one of the suspects as a Black male, 20 to 29 years of age, with a medium build. He is approximately 5 feet, 11 inches tall, weighing about 170 pounds. The suspect has brown eyes and "black dreads." No description of the second suspect has been released. Liquor store employee blasted with pepper spray in Rockville


Rockville City police are looking for a suspect who allegedly used pepper spray on an employee at the Montgomery County Liquor & Wine store at 300 N. Washington Street in Rockville Town Center. The assault occurred at the store at 11:25 AM on August 14, 2024. Police describe the suspect as a Black female,18-20 years of age, with a thin build, 5'6" in height, and short blonde hair. She was wearing all-black clothing, with a black bonnet and red slippers, and carrying a black purse. If you can identify this suspect, call police at 240-314-8900.

Assault in Rockville parking lot


Rockville City police responded to a report of a 2nd-degree assault in a parking lot early on the morning of August 18, 2024. The assault was reported in a commercial parking lot in the 700 block of Rockville Pike at 12:39 AM Sunday. At least one individual was also accused of weapons possession and disorderly conduct in the incident.

Rockville City police responded to a report of a 2nd-degree assault at an office building early Friday evening, August 16, 2024. The assault was reported at an office property in the 700 block of Rockville Pike. The victim reported having been assaulted at 6:05 PM Friday.

Assault at Rockville liquor store


Rockville City police responded to a report of a 2nd-degree assault at a liquor store in the Rockville Town Center area late Wednesday morning, August 14, 2024. The assault was reported at a store in the 300 block of N. Washington Street at 11:25 AM. It was identified as the Montgomery County-operated liquor store.

Assault at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda


Oh, no, not again! Montgomery County police responded to a report of a 2nd-degree assault at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda on Thursday afternoon, August 8, 2024. The assault was reported at 3:16 PM. Like some of the assaults at the mall in 2024, Thursday's was related to a shoplifting attempt. This was the ninth assault police have responded to at the mall this year.

There were 12 assaults reported at the popular retail center in 2022. That number dropped to 5 last year, after the Montgomery County Police Department opened a "resource room" at the mall, in response to the 2022 numbers. But the violence has rebounded this year, with the mall now on pace to more than triple last year's assault total.

Rockville police arrest 8 suspects in strong-arm robbery


Rockville City police have arrested eight suspects in the July 25, 2024 strong-arm robbery at the David Scull Courts housing complex. Officers took into custody an 18-year-old man, a 20-year-old woman, and six juvenile females who range in age from 14 to 16. Police say the eight ganged up on a lone victim, whom they assaulted and took unspecified personal property from.

The two adult suspects, of Upper Marlboro, have both been charged with felony robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and 2nd-degree assault. According to court records, they are being held without bond. A hearing in the case has been scheduled for August 23.

Rockville shooting suspect identified by police


Rockville City police have identified the suspect in the August 2, 2024 shooting in the College Gardens neighborhood. Isaiah Warren Simpson, 33, of Washington D.C. is facing charges of attempted 2nd-degree murder, 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm in a crime of violence, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, and loaded handgun on person. Detectives determined that Simpson is prohibited from possessing firearms.

The adult male victim, who was founded suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen in the 400 block of College Parkway just before 4:30 PM that afternoon, is now in stable condition at a local hospital. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Simpson is asked to contact the Rockville City Police Department at 240-314-8900 or your local law enforcement agency.

Rockville police arrest suspect in July 20 stabbing of four


Rockville City police have arrested the suspect in the July 20, 2024 stabbing of four people near the intersection of Dawson Avenue and Upton Street. Ricky Lee Dyson Jr. of Rockville is now charged with four counts of 1st-degree assault, four counts of 2nd-degree assault, and four counts of reckless endangerment. The 1st-degree assaults are felonies; the rest of the charges are misdemeanors.

According to Maryland court records, Dyson is currently being held without bond. A preliminary hearing in the case has been scheduled for August 23, 2024 in District Court in Rockville. 

Records also indicate that Circuit Court Judge Eric Johnson reopened an existing 2021 drug conviction case, after ruling that the alleged assaults were a violation of Dyson's probation in that matter. Johnson issued a bench warrant for Dyson's arrest on July 25, and it was served today along with the warrants issued for the alleged stabbings.

Police respond to assault outside Rockville home


Rockville City police responded to a report of a 2nd-degree assault outside of a home in the Twinbrook area Sunday morning, July 28, 2024. The assault was reported in the driveway of a home in the 700 block of Gail Avenue at 10:54 AM Sunday. That is right off of Veirs Mill Road near First Street.

Strong-arm robbery at Rockville housing complex


Rockville City police responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery at an apartment complex last Thursday afternoon, July 25, 2024. The robbery was reported along the street in the 1200 block of First Street at 4:15 PM. That is outside of the David Scull Courts housing complex, located near David Scull Park and Gude Drive.

Rockville police identify suspect in stabbing


Rockville City police are seeking the public's help in locating a suspect in the July 20, 2024 stabbing of four people. Detectives have identified Ricky Dyson of Rockville as the suspect, and have obtained a warrant for his arrest. Dyson is facing charges of 1st-degree assault, 2nd-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dyson is asked to call police at 240-314-8900 or 911.

4 wounded in Rockville stabbing


Four people were wounded in a stabbing in Rockville last night. Rockville City police responded to a report of an assault near the intersection of Dawson Avenue and Upton Street at 9:40 PM. Officers arriving at the scene encountered a large crowd of people, and noticed trails of blood on the ground. Witnesses reported that a stabbing had taken place. Officers attempted to locate the victims at the scene, but found no one. At least one K-9 unit was called in to assist.

However, a short time later, four victims suffering from stab wounds arrived in the Emergency Department at a local hospital. Police say none of the wounds were life-threatening. Detectives have identified a person of interest in the assault, and are attempting to locate that person for questioning.

Police called after assault at Rockville grocery store


Rockville City police were called to a grocery store at the King Farm Village Center, after an individual was allegedly assaulted there Saturday night, July 13, 2024. The assault was reported at the Safeway store at 403 Redland Boulevard at 9:05 PM. An individual was also accused of shoplifting in the same incident.

Assault at Rockville apartment building


Rockville City police were called to investigate an assault at an apartment building on Saturday night, July 13, 2024. The assault was reported in the 500 block of Monroe Street at 8:20 PM. It took place in the parking lot of the apartments.
