Rockville City police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Red Roof Inn at 16001 Shady Grove Road last Friday night, June 12, 2026. According to police, a suspect approached the front desk of the hotel at 8:46 PM, and drew a handgun. The suspect demanded the front desk clerk hand over cash. When the clerk informed the suspect that there was no cash to hand over, the suspect ran away. No description of the suspect has been released as of this writing.

DeleteI don't know, but whenever I walk by or am in that area, I see some really messed up looking people on sidewalk in front of the hotel or they are walking onto the hotel property. I wouldn't go near that place.

ReplyDeleteThis Red Roof Inn was my first home in Rockville 34 years ago this week when I came from NYC for a new job. I enjoyed my stay there and felt safe. The Red Roof Inn also had a very fine Coffee Shop for Sunday morning breakfast, better than anything else along Shady Grove Road at the time or even now. Times have changed....
