Popeyes closed again at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda...is it the end this time?

Popeyes
has been closed in recent days in the Dining Terrace food court at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. Yesterday, it was indeed closed during normal operating hours, as seen here. Popeyes has closed for short periods in the past, only to reopen for business

One reader reports that the owner has retired, and that this closure is for good; Google is also stating that this Popeyes is "permanently closed." What's certain is that Montgomery County is in desperate need of a Popeyes with a drive-thru.

Popeyes reopens at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda, Stuart Weitzman closes early (Photos)

Popeyes
has reopened in the Dining Terrace food court at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The Louisiana-themed restaurant had temporarily closed without explanation. A reader mentioned that a shortage of staff was the reason, an issue certainly affecting many hospitality busineses these days. But last night they were open again, and drawing many customers. I would say this is the perfect weather for hot fried chicken, but then again, when is it not the right time for a stop at Popeyes or KFC?

While Popeyes was open, Stuart Weitzman was oddly closed before its normal closing time Saturday night. There was no note posted about why.

Popeyes chicken sandwich returning November 3

Popeyes has announced the return of its "sold-out" chicken sandwich. The sandwich will be available starting November 3, 2019. Popeyes intentionally chose a Sunday to bring back the chicken sandwich to emphasize that chicken sandwich king and arch competitor Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays, likely in hopes of reigniting the chains' Twitter feud for publicity purposes.

Popeyes Red Stick Chicken arrives in Rockville

Popeyes launched a new menu item Monday, called Red Stick Chicken. The name comes from the ingredient the fried chicken tenders are marinated in - Tabasco sauce. The McIlhenny family has been  producing that sauce on Avery Island, Louisiana since 1868, and growing the cayenne peppers for it there, as well. It is from the growing process of those crops that the Red Stick name comes from.

In monitoring and harvesting the peppers, employees use a wooden stick painted the exact shade of red that the fruit must be to meet McIlhenny standards for ripeness. The baton rouge is known in English as "the Red Stick."

Tabasco flavor and heat is met by an equally-spicy Smok'n Pepper Ranch sauce, also new this week at Popeyes. The meal is completed with a serving of Popeyes' famous fries and Southern-style biscuit.

How hot is the Red Stick Chicken, and how does it taste? Watch my review to find out!
