Rockville resident surprises burglars in bedroom


A Rockville resident disrupted a midday burglary in her home on Monday, April 28, 2025, Rockville City police report. The two female suspects had already picked up items from bedrooms in the home in the 500 block of S. Horners Lane, and then entered the victim's bedroom at 12:30 PM. When the victim surprised them, the two women ran out of the home with the stolen valuables, and fled in a dark-colored Chevrolet Suburban. 

The victim had earlier locked the front door, she told police, but officers determined that the suspects had still been able to break in through the door despite the lock. They were apparently not aware that the victim was at home at the time.

Police describe the two suspects as White women with "noticeably thick accents," approximately 40 to 50 years in age, heavy-set, 5'4" to 5'7" in height, with long, black hair. They were wearing "long robe-style dresses" and white shoes. If you can assist detectives in identifying either of the suspects in this case, call police at 240-314-8900.

Intruder trashes rental room in Rockville


An intruder entered a Rockville home and trashed a rental room on April 7, 2025, Rockville City police report. The suspect snuck in through a rear door, and was apparently targeting a specific rental room inside the home in the 300 block of Baltimore Road in Croydon Park. Between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM that afternoon, police say, the intruder overturned the room, leaving items strewn about. No description of the suspect, or their motive, has been released at this time. Burglars hit Rockville self-storage units twice in 48 hours


Storage units at a self-storage facility in Rockville were burglarized twice in 48 hours, Montgomery County police report. The incidents occurred at Gude Self Storage, located at 851 E. Gude Drive. In the early morning hours of March 24, 2025, one or more burglars forced their way into a unit there and stole property. Sometime between 2:45 PM and midnight the next day, at least one other unit was broken into.

Rockville police catch Smoke Island burglars in the act


Early yesterday morning, Rockville City police caught a group of alleged burglars in the act at Saah Plaza. Around 1:15 AM Saturday, March 22, 2025, officers responded to a burglar alarm at Smoke Island at 811 Hungerford Drive. Four juveniles broke into the smoke shop, and stole merchandise. A timely response by Rockville's finest allowed the officers to catch all four suspects as they attempted to make their getaway from the scene.

All four suspects face charges in juvenile court. Officers were able to recover all of the stolen property from the business. Police said the suspects ranged in age from 13 to 16 years old.

Juvenile steals Tesla Model Y for Christmas in Rockville


A juvenile had a jolly joyride in a Tesla Model Y on Christmas, despite the Rockville Tesla dealership's best efforts to scare him away. Security discovered the juvenile hiding inside the dealership at 1300 Rockville Pike at 11:41 PM on December 25. They "chased him away," Rockville City police said. The next morning, however, Tesla employees found that a 2025 Model Y had been stolen, and remains missing.

Police describe the suspect as a Black male in his early teens, 5’03” tall with a medium build, and wearing a green jacket and brown pants. If you can identify the suspect, call police at 240-314-8900.

Shoe thieves plague Rockville apartment complex


One or more package pirates targeted an apartment complex in Rockville earlier this month, Rockville City police report. While porch pirates were predictably busy citywide during the holiday season, the apartments on Upper Rock Circle suffered "a particularly acute spree" of package thefts. Police say the primary target of those thefts was packages containing shoes. 

In one case on December 8, 2024, a Honda CRV believed to be driven by a package thief gained access to a restricted parking garage at the complex, by tailgating another vehicle around 7:00 PM. Once inside, the alleged thief grabbed a large number of packages from a parcel drop-off area, and fled.

Rockville office building, beer store burglarized 15 minutes apart


Two Rockville properties were broken into within a 15 minute period Thursday night, October 10, 2024. Rockville City police responded to a report of a burglary at a beer and wine store in the 100 block of Congressional Lane at 11:23 PM. Fifteen minutes later, a burglary occurred at a nearby office building in the 1500 block of Rockville Pike. Officers responding to both scenes found evidence of forced entry at the properties.

Attempted break-in at Rockville gun store


Montgomery County police are investigating an attempted burglary at a gun store in Rockville. A suspect attempted to gain entry to Atlantic Guns at 15813 Frederick Road at 10:03 PM on August 18, 2024, but was unsuccessful. Police describe the suspect only as "male." Hit and miss night for busy Rockville burglars


One or more burglars experienced the thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat, in Rockville over the night between August 12 and August 13, 2024. Montgomery County police responded to a burglary at P&C Complete Car Service at 12516 Parklawn Drive on August 13. Officers arriving at the scene found evidence of forced entry, and cash had been stolen from the auto repair shop. Police believe the burglary occurred between 4:00 PM on August 12 and 7:50 AM on August 13.

Officers also responded to a burglary call at Plaza Carpet on the same block of Parklawn on the 13th. There they found the burglar(s) had been unsuccessful at gaining entry to the business. Rockville City police responded to a report of a burglary in the Burgundy Estates neighborhood on Friday, August 30, 2024. The burglary was reported at a home in the 600 block of Denham Road at 5:30 AM Friday. Officers responding to the scene found evidence of forced entry and property damage at the home.

Burglar raids fridge in Rockville apartment


An apparently hungry thief raided a refrigerator in a Rockville apartment, Rockville City police report. Sometime between July 24 and August 7, 2024, the suspect smashed the rear door window of an apartment at David Scull Courts, in the 1200 block of First Street. They reached through the broken window to unlock the door from inside, and entered the apartment. The suspect then proceeded to steal several frozen food items from the refrigerator.

Self-storage unit broken into in Rockville


Montgomery County police are investigating a burglary incident at Extra Space Storage at 11850 Parklawn Drive in Rockville. Police are not sure when the burglary occurred, but the crime was discovered at noon on July 14, 2024. Officers responding to the scene found evidence of forced entry to one of the storage units at the facility. Unspecified property was stolen from inside the unit.

Criminals steal golf cart, force entry to apartment during 35-min. crime spree on Rockville street


Something attracted between eight and eleven alleged criminals to a quiet residential street in Rockville on the afternoon of June 13, 2024. Rockville City police report that two suspects stole a golf cart parked at an apartment complex in the 400 block of College Parkway at 3:45 PM. Exactly thirty-five minutes later, police allege, eight to nine suspects forced their way into a vacant apartment a block away in the 500 block of College Parkway. 

The apartment burglars are only identified as "8-9 juveniles." No physical description or ages of the two suspected of grand theft golf cart has been released. It is unknown if the two sets of suspects are part of the same group as of this writing. Both crimes were committed in broad daylight. Woman breaks into self-storage facility in Rockville


Montgomery County police are searching for an adult female suspect they say broke into a self-storage facility in Rockville. Detectives say the woman forced her way into Castle Mini Storage at 12040 Parklawn Drive sometime between 3:00 AM on April 12, 2024 and 9:30 AM on April 13. However, there is so far no indication that the woman stole anything. Police have not released a physical description of the suspect at this time. Rockville school broken into over holiday weekend


Rockville City police responded to a report of a burglary early Friday afternoon at Meadow Hall Elementary School at 951 Twinbrook Parkway. The burglary was reported at 1:13 PM Friday. Officers arriving at the scene found entrance of forced entry at the school. The school was closed at the time of the burglary for the holidays.

Do you recognize this Derwood burglary suspect?


Montgomery County police are seeking the public's help in identifying and locating a suspect in a burglary rampage across commercial properties in Derwood and Montgomery Village earlier this month. The suspect is accused of attempting to burglarize an ATM at the Bank of America in the 17500 block of Redland Road by smashing it with a rock at 10:58 PM on Sunday, March 3, 2024; forcing his way into and stealing cash from Spice Lanka on the same block moments later; and then trying and failing to force entry into Derwood Beer & Wine in the 17600 block of Redland Road. 

On Wednesday, March 6, police say the same suspect tried his luck in Montgomery Village, breaking into Vida Hair Salon at 19122 Montgomery Village Avenue at 11:02 PM. He allegedly took cash from the cash register and fled. A few hours later, at 3:21 AM on March 7, the suspect allegedly broke into Dollar Tree, Moe's Southwest Grill, Ledo Pizza and The Joint - all at the Montgomery Village Center. He is accused of stealing money from Moe's. The suspect then broke into the Metro by T-Mobile store at 9989 Stedwick Road in Montgomery Village.

Detectives are working with all of the business owners who were affected to determine if any other property or cash was stolen from their spaces. Police describe the suspect as an adult Black male, approximately 5-feet, 10-inches in height, with a slim build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. Detectives have released a photo of the suspect, shown above.

Vandals go wild with fire extinguishers inside vacant Rockville office building


Vandals broke into a vacant Rockville office building, and hosed down the interior with fire extinguishers on January 29, 2024, Rockville City police report. The two suspects forced their way into the building in the 2000 block of Gaither Road at 2:15 PM that afternoon, and damaged two doors. This may have been related to an arson incident that same day in another vacant building in the same office park. Both buildings are among several slated for demolition in a delayed redevelopment project at the property.

Police describe Suspect 1 as a Hispanic male with a medium build, wearing glasses, a black beanie, a black jacket, and black pants. Suspect 2 is described as a Hispanic male, also with a medium build, wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. Arson in Upper Rock area of Rockville


Rockville City police are investigating a case of arson in the Upper Rock area off of Shady Grove Road. Some time between 11:30 AM on January 28, 2024 and 11:30 AM on January 29, a suspect removed a window barrier at a vacant building in the unit block of Choke Cherry Road. The suspect then set fire to a pile of trash inside the building. No estimate or description of the resulting damage was provided by police.

Several office buildings in the office park on that block were sold to Boston Properties in recent years. A Boston Properties representative told a Montgomery County government advisory board in 2022 that three of the buildings were vacant on the 31-acre site between Choke Cherry and Gaither Road. Rockville City police responded to a burglar alarm at a jewelry store early yesterday morning, January 28, 2024. The call came from a store in the 1500 block of Rockville Pike at 3:14 AM Sunday. Aras Jewelers is located on that block. Officers arriving at the scene found evidence of forced entry to the store.

Would-be burglars try to kick their way into house in Rockville


A pair of high-stepping suspects tried to kick their way into a house in Rockville on the evening of January 7, 2024. The suspects approached a home in the unit block of Harrowgate Court in Potomac Woods around 8:55 PM that night. They proceeded to kick the front door, but ran off after it failed to give way, Rockville City police said.
