Puree Artisan Juice Bar
is expanding to Potomac. The cold-pressed juice and vegan snack bar will open a new location at 7937 Tuckerman Lane at the Cabin John Village shopping center. Puree began with a flagship location at Bethesda Row in 2011. Rather than expand rapidly, the brand has slowly and strategically built on one success after another since then. Its latest move will be new shops at Cabin John and Georgetown, both of which will open in 2026.

Rockville child confesses to Halloween candy needle hoax

Rockville City police detectives investigating a report of sewing needles embedded in Halloween candy distributed last Friday night have concluded that it was a false report. A child in the household that reported finding the needles inside gummy bears received while trick-or-treating finally confessed to having stuck them into the bears themselves. Police say the 9-year-old made the confession while having additional conversations with their parents following police involvement in the case. The parents had discovered the needles while running a magnet over the candy collected by their children on Halloween.

Police had little choice but to warn the public out of an abundance of caution until they could conclude their investigation. Online commenters who argued that such reports are always proven false were vindicated in this particular case. “This incident understandably raised concern within our community, and we are grateful that it did not present a broader threat to public safety,” Rockville Police Chief Jason L. West said in a statement. “I commend the professionalism and diligence of our officers and detectives for their swift response, thorough investigation, and commitment to ensuring the facts of this case were fully uncovered.”

Police warn needles found in Halloween candy in Rockville

UPDATE - 7:39 PM, November 3, 2025: Rockville City police have determined the report was a hoax. Click here for full report.

Sewing needles were found in Halloween candy distributed to trick-or-treating kids in Rockville last night, Rockville City police are warning. Two children were given packages of gummy bears that contained the needles, police say. Those packages were handed out at a home in the area surrounding Welsh Drive and West Edmonston Drive. The needles were embedded in the gummy bears, not just in the packages. Detectives are investigating.

Police are warning parents to inspect all candy collected by children last night. If you find any suspicious items that appear to have been tampered with, police are asking you to confiscate those items, and keep them to give to detectives. Do not throw them away. Contact the Rockville City Police Department’s non-emergency line at 240-314-8900 to file a report and arrange for an officer to collect the item.

Go Fresh 365 supermarket nears opening in Rockville

The sign is up at the future Go Fresh 365 supermarket at 1800 Rockville Pike at the Galvan at Twinbrook development. It was not yet lit when these photos were taken Monday night, but the interior fit-out appears to be on track for the anticipated November opening. Go Fresh 365 replaces Safeway at the development, and will likely be more competitive with the new Wegmans a few blocks away, as it will offer so many products Wegmans doesn't carry. The Long Island City, New York-based grocery chain boasts that it is the "No.1 Asian/Chinese Supermarket Chain" on the East Coast of the United States.
