Mass layoffs announced at Rockville company

Centerra Group, LLC, a government safety and security contractor located at 11555 Rockville Pike, has informed the state of Maryland it will conduct mass layoffs of its employees March 31, 2019. The firm filed a WARN notice with the state regarding the layoffs yesterday.

Eighty-seven employees are slated to lose their jobs, according to the notice filing. This is another blow to the anemic job activity in the White Flint area, which was capped off by the humiliating loss in the Amazon HQ2 sweepstakes. Montgomery County's economy grows more moribund with each passing hour, yet our County Council hasn't taken a single action to address the economic development crisis in the first two months of its term. Heckuva job, Brownie!

  1. You trash the County Council all the time but never lay out your plan to do any better. If you want to win an election, don't whine about the other guy and go negative. Go positive and say what YOU would do, not what the other guy didn't do.

Do you know another word but 'moribund'? Seriously Robert, ask you wife to get you a thesaurus for your next birthday.

    1. I don't have a wife, and I laid out my plan in full on my campaign website. It's light years better than the Council's plan, which is doing nothing for another 4 years.

It's a great plan - too bad the Post was colluding with the MoCo cartel and never informed their readers about it:

  2. Montgomery County was never in a position to suffer a "humiliating loss" with Amazon. The only folks that were thinking so were bloviates looking to fill daily content articles.

  3. Mass layoffs, 89 employees from a crooked sub-contractor that ran a foul operation, and you call it "humiliating". What a poor example of a reporter you are. Brietbart has an opening for you kind, go fetch.

    1. 11:26: How are the layoffs not layoffs? They filed the notice, and almost 100 people are going to be laid off.

Read again: I said the Amazon defeat was humiliating. The new layoffs are just the latest economic development disaster for the MoCo cartel. Will you go down with the ship?

    2. Do you realize that this is one contractor being replaced by another? This is no net loss of jobs. In fact, the new contractor will probably hire at least some staff from the previous contractor.

    3. Dyer has no sense of realization, that would mean having a sense of reality. He just believes in alternative facts as defined by the alt-right-wing nutjobs.

    4. 11:39: The layoffs are happening. Facts.

3:21: You're claiming losing Amazon was a victory, and that layoffs filed with the state are not happening. Who is the nutjob, again? LOL

  4. Only the contractor is changing due to 5 year term. 99% of the actual guard force will be pick-ed up by the new contractor. Many of the guard force staff have worked there 20 plus years. I worked there 40 plus years, I know. Dyer, quit spinning like CNN.

    1. 11:14: No such statements have been made by anyone publicly. What we do know for certain, is massive layoffs will occur on March 31. It's humiliating for the County Council - they can't even hold on to the jobs we have, much less bring in new ones.
