Police respond to disorderly conduct at Rockville Town Square

Rockville City police were called to Rockville Town Square Thursday night to respond to an incident of disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace. Officers were called to the 100 block of Gibbs Street at 11:38 PM on Thursday, March 9, 2023. Some residents of the apartments upstairs at the development have complained on social media of the frequency of such incidents during the night and early morning on Gibbs Street.

  1. Get an apartment over a bar, what did you expect. It's why we used to have zoning laws.

    1. Your thinking is totally off kilter. These units, as are others built over retail/restaurants, meet zoning requirements. Educate yourself before opening your mouth.

    2. So? If you live above a line of bars that are open on weekends until 3am then there are going to be groups of people in the area until at least 330am. This is common sense. Hopefully the dispatchers learn to ignore your attempts at wasting police resources. What's next? You're going to call the police because the sun is too bright around noon or water is too wet during a rainstorm?

  2. Male Karens calling the police about noise every weekend after moving immediately above a strip of nightlife. You can't make this stuff up.

  3. I used to have neighbors who lived downstairs and they would get drunk and hang out on their patio at 3:00am,I called the police many times. People have a right to be able to get sleep.

    1. That's completely different (though obviously was an issue for your HOA or management company rather than police). No reasonable person would have an expectation of Gibbs St being quiet at 1130pm considering it's lined with bars and restaurants.

    2. I believe quiet hours are between 11:00pm through 7:00am. If the people are at a bar, they should be inside the bar drinking at that time. Rockville town center is a residential area also, and with the frequency of crime Rockville is experiencing at the Town center and all around Rockville, the police should be called immediately upon a disturbance during the quiet hours. Especially on a week day which this was.

  4. Disorderly conduct is putting it lightly. I live at 154 and there was a huge crowd that surrounded a couple people fighting each other. Went on for about 30 min.
