  1. Let me guess, the County Council burned it?

  2. The Supreme Court has ruled that the First Amendment protects speech involving actions such as burning a flag. The question this doesn't address is why is the police involved here? Did the flag belong to someone other than the person who burned it? That would be destroying property, not protected expression.

    1. Bill, you are correct. My assumption is that the flag was stolen or torn down, and thus the police became involved.

    2. Whoever did it should be kicked out of the country. If you burn the flag it means you dont care about the country so leave!

    3. This is a terrible take. Free speech and protest are about the most American things we have. You may hate what they have to say but you should fight for their right to say it.

    4. Whoever is against the US constitution should be kicked out of this country

    5. @7:26 - Obviously you weren't around or failed to read the history of the 60's in America. No protest was legit until you burned a flag. And no one went to jail.

  3. You might try reading the First Amendment. I would like a free, democratic country. Anonymous, you seem to oppose that.

  4. So no one actually saw it burning, it was just reported 13 hours after it happened?

  5. When I was in Elementary school in early 1970s the first thing we did in class every morning was to stand towards the American Flag and say the pledge of Allegiance. I know that's considered taboo today, but if you are in America, you should have some respect for the Flag and be thankful you are not living in some third world country.

    1. It seems like imposed government religion to me. When I encountered this when I entered 2nd grade, it seemed inherently wrong to me as a Christian whose loyalty is to Jesus Christ. I still think so. Practically worshipping a piece of cloth is anathema to me. And legally I have the right to refuse.

    2. It really isn't worshipping a piece of cloth,it's what the American Flag stands for and having respect for that.I wouldn't fall into the belief that America is a bad country, not if you want it to survive.

  6. Montgomery County is certainly starting to look third world though.

  7. I think the county is more concerned about it contributing to global warming than anything else.
