Rockville and Montgomery County fireworks displays 2022 - Where to watch fireworks

Who needs the hassle of riding Metro downtown, or getting caught up in the Independence Day traffic, when there are many other fireworks shows right here in Montgomery County - most private - that can be viewed from nearby parking lots. Just remember not to trespass on private property. If you are within two blocks of a professional fireworks launch site, consider wearing hearing protection to avoid developing tinnitus or hearing loss, especially for children.

Rockville fireworks 2021

Montgomery County has canceled its government-funded public fireworks displays this year, making it an outlier among our neighbors Frederick and Howard counties, who are proceeding with theirs. The City of Rockville has also canceled its display, and City of Gaithersburg officials have postponed theirs. What is a traditionalist to do? If you are near any of these mostly-private fireworks displays, you may be able to enjoy a free show anyway (just don't trespass on private property).

Rockville cancels July 4th fireworks; farmers market to return in June

The coronavirus pandemic continues to upend calendars and traditions across the globe and here in Rockville. Annual July 4th fireworks that were to have been held at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park in King Farm have been canceled. Hometown Holidays and the Memorial Day parade have also been canceled. On a brighter note, Rockville's Farmers Market will return to the parking lot at the corner of Route 28 and Monroe Street on June 6.

Coronavirus-related facilities closures have been extended through May 29, including City Hall. The City of Rockville’s tennis and pickleball courts, the dog park at King Farm, and all parks and trails are open. Playgrounds, athletic fields, bathrooms, fitness stations, basketball, Bankshot and volleyball courts will remain closed until further notice. City events, in-person classes, programs, rentals and activities are also canceled through May 29.

Most of the state of Maryland moved into Phase 1 of Gov. Larry Hogan's reopening plan Friday. Montgomery County declined to do so, and is remaining under a new Stay-at-Home lockdown order declared by the Montgomery County Council.

Music will begin at 6:00 PM, and the fireworks display will begin at 9:15 PM, and last about 20 minutes. Plenty of free parking will be available in lots on Shady Grove and Gaither Roads and Piccard Drive, all near the park. Attendees are encouraged to approach the site via main roads, as some smaller routes will be blocked off by police.

Rockville fireworks 2015

Where to see fireworks in Rockville this year? The location has moved to Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park in King Farm, which should be an improvement for both pedestrians and drivers.

Rockville's July 4 celebration will begin at 7:00 PM Saturday night at the park. A live concert including the Nighthawks will take place from 7:00 until 8:45, when the Mayor and Council will greet attendees from the Stars stage.

Fireworks will begin at 9:15 PM.

For a map of where you can park, click here. If it rains Saturday night, the fireworks will be rescheduled for Sunday, July 5. You can bring food and beverages, blankets and chairs. Food will also be available from several vendors during the event.

ROCKVILLE FIREWORKS 2013

The big fireworks show on July 4th in Rockville is at Montgomery College.  You can park in the lots at the corner of Mannakee Street and Route 355, or in the lots on the Montgomery College campus.

A main stage will be set up in Lot 11 at Montgomery College, near Mannakee Street. At 7:00 PM, the Fugitive Brass Quintet will perform. They'll be followed by the Pinneberg Dancers at 7:30, and the
Rockville Concert Band at 8:00.

Then the real show - the fireworks - begins around 9:15 PM.
