Rockville and Montgomery County fireworks displays 2022 - Where to watch fireworks

Who needs the hassle of riding Metro downtown, or getting caught up in the Independence Day traffic, when there are many other fireworks shows right here in Montgomery County - most private - that can be viewed from nearby parking lots. Just remember not to trespass on private property. If you are within two blocks of a professional fireworks launch site, consider wearing hearing protection to avoid developing tinnitus or hearing loss, especially for children.

  1. We don’t really need fireworks every day for 1.5 weeks. What a waste of money.

    1. I agree,it seems like there are fireworks displays 3 or 4 times a year now.

    2. Oh, don’t be an old poop! Fireworks are the traditional celebration of our nation. The cost is far less than what Congress wastes every day they sit.

    3. Most of those firework displays are private. The only public down county display is in Kensington/Wheaton. The rest of the public displays are north of Rockville.

  2. It seems to detract from the Fourth of July celebration, and make it less important when we have multiple displays of fireworks on different dates.Thats probably the idea though, abolish Independence Day.

  3. If people have a disability, how can u expect them to sit in low chairs where they can't get up?? Can't they sit in regular lawn chairs on the edges?

  4. Thank you for pulling together this list! Because of this list, we’ve been able to see two firework shows, and my kids have absolutely loved them.

I disagree re: the comments about multiple firework shows. The county is huge, and the main firework shows get packed. It is hard to find parking, get to the location, etc. We were able to sit across the street from two of the country clubs, and see a great display.

  5. Congressional did not have fireworks tonight. Do you know if they are having them on the 4th as they normally do?

    1. I apologize for the error. I would assume they will be tonight then, but I would call the club to confirm. However, as of this afternoon, I do not see a permit from the Maryland State Fire Marshal for fireworks tonight at Congressional. They had one for "June 3" which also still had a "TBA" rain date after June 3, so I thought it was a typo for July 3, as they do not have a permit for July 4. Very strange.
