There's still a long way to go at Mission BBQ. The barbecue restaurant moving into Wintergreen Plaza will be in the space vacated by Benjarong, at 885 Rockville Pike.

Ourisman Chevrolet opens at Wintergreen Plaza

Ourisman Chevrolet has opened its new dealership at Wintergreen Plaza on Rockville Pike. Their existing dealership at MD 355 and Gude Drive is currently available for lease, but as of last night, continues to hold vehicle inventory, Ourisman signage and - of course - its famous giant American flag.

Glen Burnie-based Mission BBQ is beginning the build-out of its newest location in Rockville. The restaurant will be located in the recently-vacated Benjarong space at Wintergreen Plaza, at 885 Rockville Pike.

Benjarong closed but the loss is BBQ fans' gain, as Mission BBQ is inspired by some of the great BBQ joints across America. Launched with its first location on September 11, 2001, the chain's dining rooms pay tribute to America's heroes in uniform. Mission BBQ supports a massive list of charities and organizations that serve or represent active duty soldiers, veterans, police officers and firefighters at the national and local levels.

As you can see, they've also applied for their liquor license. From what I understand, they also pay tribute once each day to American heroes with the national anthem at noon. They also have seasonal menu items, currently featuring a prime rib, creamed corn and Bourbon Street Caramel Bread Pudding that look mighty good.

Wingstop opening Wednesday in Rockville (Photos)

Wingstop is planning to open this Wednesday, November 16, at 891-E Rockville Pike. The popular chicken wing chain has already had a location in Fallsgrove. This new location is in Wintergreen Plaza. As you can see, the interior looks ready to go here, including the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine.

Hear USA, Wingstop coming to Wintergreen Plaza

Two new tenants are on their way to Wintergreen Plaza in Rockville. Hear USA has put up some coming soon signage at their new location, and popular chicken wing chain Wingstop has signed a lease, as well. Wingstop will be near Paisano's.

Ourisman Rockmont Chevrolet expected to move to Wintergreen Plaza by November

Construction on the future Ourisman Rockmont Chevrolet dealership at Wintergreen Plaza in Rockville continues, and it's now larger than the renderings suggested. The moving schedule is starting to firm up, as well. A source at the dealership says they will likely have completed their move by this November.

Here's the interesting twist: One might expect the land the dealership currently sits on at 15301 N. Frederick Road to go up for sale, potentially opening up a prime redevelopment opportunity at a major crossroads. Instead, the land is now for lease by Avison Young.

Will the landmark giant U.S. flag make the move south, as well? Stay tuned.

Rockville construction update: The Habit Burger Grill (Photos)

Burger lovers who follow nationwide hamburger headlines have to be excited about the future opening of The Habit Burger Grill at Wintergreen Plaza in Rockville. In regions that already have locations of the expanding chain, their burgers are attaining Five Guys-level hype.

This is where Ted's 355 Diner used to be on the property. All that's missing is a drive-thru.

The Habit Burger Grill has posted some Coming Soon signage at its future Wintergreen Plaza location. As you can see, there's still a long way to go on the interior build-out.

Habit Burger, Jersey Mike's coming to Wintergreen Plaza in Rockville

H&R Retail has completed two leasing transactions at Wintergreen Plaza on Rockville Pike. Coming this year to the shopping center will be Habit Burger Grill and Jersey Mike's. The two new dining options will bookend the newly-converted Ted's 355 Grill structure facing the Pike, according to the property map.

Neither H&R Retail nor Habit Burger would respond to inquiries. How rude. It's called media relations, guys. Oh, well.

Work continues on the future Ourisman Rockmont Chevrolet dealership at Wintergreen Plaza on Rockville Pike. As you can see, the structure is beginning to take the shape of the latest Chevrolet dealership design template (bottom photo). You may have seen this showroom design elsewhere in the DC region.

Ted's 355 Diner was gutted, and a new retail structure is being built on its frame at Wintergreen Plaza. Whether this is for one tenant, or will be divided among several, is not yet clear - although there are dividers inside suggesting the latter. The dimensions appear to be capable of holding four tenants.

In any case, the building and its rooftop turrets match those nearby in the shopping center.

Former Ted's 355 Diner demolished in Rockville (Photos)

The fate of the diner at Wintergreen Plaza on Rockville Pike is now clear. Formerly Ted's 355 Diner, the structure is now being demolished. Conflicting signs of what was pending - construction fencing and dumpster, but also a sign offering the building for lease - had many wondering what exactly the shopping center's plans were for the diner.

About the only thing left from the diner is some silver trim along the front of the gutted building.
