Armed robbery at 7-Eleven in Rockville

Rockville City police responded to a report of an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven store late Saturday night, December 2, 2023. The robbery was reported at the 7-Eleven at 824 Baltimore Road at 11:29 PM Saturday. A firearm was the weapon employed in the robbery.

Indecent exposure at restaurant in Derwood

Montgomery County police were called to a restaurant in Derwood yesterday afternoon, December 3, 2023, to investigate a case of indecent exposure reported there. The incident was reported at a restaurant in the 15800 block of Frederick Road at 4:25 PM Sunday. There is a McDonald's and a Wendy's restaurant on that block.

Rockville Mayor & Council to consider dissolving Civic Center and Mansion Subcomittee

Rockville's Mayor and Council will consider a resolution that would dissolve the City's Civic Center and Mansion Subcommittee at its meeting tonight, December 4, 2023 at 7:00 PM. The subcomittee was created in 1991, when the process of creating an historic district around the Glenview Mansion and surrounding grounds was getting started. Over 30 years later, the mansion and grounds are now part of the Rockville Civic Center Park historic district, and the subcommittee has guided to completion the major projects to restore, maintain and enhance the property. As a result, the subcommittee itself - along with several other related City commissions - have recommended disbanding the subcommittee.

Dissolution of the subcommittee will have no impact on funding for the mansion and park. Anticipated future projects will be of a scope that can be successfully handled by the Department of Recreation and Parks, and the Recreation and Park Advisory Board, city staff have concluded. As a result, the staff report suggests the Mayor and Council approve the resolution at tonight's meeting.

Car stolen from Rockville apartment building

Rockville City police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at an apartment building near the Twinbrook Metro station on November 27, 2023. A Hyundai Sonata was stolen from the parking garage at The Terano apartments at 5720 Fishers Lane. The car is believed to have taken sometime between 7:45 AM and 6:00 PM. 

Hyundai Sonatas are among the most-stolen vehicles in America, due to the company's failure to install up-to-date anti-theft technology on several models. Hyundai has faced legal action by jurisdictions, and class-action lawsuits, over a theft rampage fueled by TikTok videos showing how easy it is to steal Hyundai vehicles.

No Regrets Pizza aiming for March 2024 opening in White Flint

No Regrets Pizza Co. is on-track for the "early 2024" opening promised by its coming-soon window signage at 5454 Nicholson Lane in White Flint. Located in the ground floor of the Harwood Flats apartment building, the pizzeria is currently anticipating a March 2024 grand opening. Operating hours for the 35-seat restaurant will be 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week. There will also be a full bar. Pizza lovers who leased apartments upstairs at Harwood Flats are clearly having no regrets!

Armed robbery at Rockville home

Montgomery County police responded to a report of an armed robbery at a home in Rockville yesterday morning, December 1, 2023. The robbery was reported at a residence in the 14100 block of Chinkapin Drive at 4:14 AM Friday. Among the property reportedly demanded in the robbery was a vehicle. A firearm was the weapon employed in the incident. Chinkapin Drive is in the Willows of Potomac neighborhood, which is located off of Shady Grove Road.

The Grove and Apricot Lane have opened at Cabin John Village in Potomac. Cuisine at The Grove has shifted from the earlier plans for a Belgian concept to Mediterranean dishes of Spain, Italy and Greece. Chef Jose Lopez-Picazo is at the helm for the latest dining addition to the shopping center, which is located at 11325 Seven Locks Road.
