Woman attacked with hammer in Rockville Town Center

A woman was assaulted by a hammer-wielding man in the Rockville Town Center area early in the morning on April 7, 2024. The victim told Rockville City police that she was visiting the 200 block of N. Washington Street, and was approached by an unknown male subject at 3:25 AM. He suddenly produced a hammer, and struck her "on the face" with it, she said.

The suspect then fled in a black SUV. No tag number for the getaway vehicle has been released, nor has a physical description of the alleged attacker. If you have any information about this incident or the suspect, contact Rockville City police at 240-314-8900.

    1. A man was shot Wednesday night adjacent to this block, in the 300 block, which contains a vape store. Perhaps its time for Rockville to follow suit like MoCo and regulate these joints also.

  6. The NYC street trend of men striking women in the face for no apparent reason has arrived in Rockville.

  7. What do they all have in common? Dems are in charge and progressive DA’s as well.

  8. This obviously proves something about politicians not doing something or about politicians doing the wrong somethings or about SUV drivers or the need to regulate hammers or about how we can have constant vigilance over weird aberrant behavior and prevent this in the first place. Could someone else mention immigrants?

  9. Where is the CountyExec? Why is there no serious effort to recall him if for. I other reason to hold him accountable for the massive failure of the County’s measuring sticks and his pathetic handing of Covid (vaccine passports/Travis Gayle’s)

  10. You mean our fabulously compassionate, dope-smoking, former third-grade teacher County Executive? But a better question is, who carries a hammer downtown at three o'clock in the morning. Two blocks from the police station.

    1. Great point; somehow doubt it was a carpenter headed to work early. Shame of it all is RTS was really vibrant, cool an promising back in 2006-2007. Its an indication of the plummet of the County (expertly and methodically described by Jacob Sesker in a an economic masterpiece) that strangely coincides with a certain CE's arrival on the County Council. Spurious correlation--probably. But guess what--when Marriott gives up on this flaming pile of dung and the police department is gutted by retirements, resignation and attrition (all coming) you will see the schools implode, the tax base further weaken and serious crime on the rise. Pike and Rose is dangerous, Montgomery Mall has hit its 2023 assault numbers in 3 months already. ...

  11. If it had been a white on black assault, you can bet that a physical description of the assailant would be aavailable. The fact that its not available tells me everything I need to know.

  12. That section of Rockville is terrible. I rarely see cops patrolling but there are plenty of scary dudes hanging around.

We need more money to change the names of high schools

    That will fix it
