Lids is "opening soon" at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The sports merchandise retailer is best known for hats, but carries a wide range of licensed sporting apparel, shoes and accessories. Lids offers 90-day "hassle-free returns" on products. Look for Lids when it opens on Level 1 next to the Lego Store.
VinoRita wine slushies kiosk opens, Wild Custom Apparel moves at Montgomery Mall in Bethesda
VinoRita, a wine slushies kiosk, has opened in the Dining Terrace food court at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. "Have a wine slushy," an electronic menu screen floating above the kiosk advises. A menu screen lists 5 flavors available. VinoRita's marketing calls the new kiosk "your classy place to drink."
In other mall news, Wild Custom Apparel has made a short move to relocate. It has reopened in a space between the Lego Store and The Children's Place on Level 1, essentially just leapfrogging to the opposite side of the Lego Store from where it was. The shop is what it sounds like, a custom-printing apparel business. What makes it "wild," is left to the imagination. Downing a couple of wine slushies before shopping may assist in that department.

Pickup truck driver crashes into Rockville home
A pickup truck driver crashed his Ford F-Series pickup truck into a home in the Twinbrook Forest neighborhood of Rockville this morning. The crash damaged a house in the 2200 block of McAuliffe Drive around 7:45 AM. Rockville City police are citing "operator error" as the cause of the accident. The 67-year-old driver has been transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Police say the driver will be cited with several traffic offenses. City of Rockville inspectors are now on-site to determine the extent of the structural damage to the home. It's unclear how this happened on a quiet residential street with a 25 MPH speed limit.

Doug Duncan endorses Adam Van Grack for Rockville City Council
Former Rockville mayor and Montgomery County Executive Doug Duncan has endorsed Adam Van Grack in the Rockville City Council race. Van Grack's campaign announced the endorsement yesterday, alongside endorsements from former Rockville City Councilmember John Britton and former District 17 State Senator Mary Boergers. This brings Van Grack's endorsement haul from current and former elected officials to fourteen.
"Like me, Adam Van Grack was raised in Rockville and has been an active member in our community," Duncan said in a statement Tuesday. "I am proud to support him for City Council and I know that he will be an excellent City Councilmember for all of Rockville." It's an ironic twist, as Duncan defeated Van Grack's father, former Rockville Mayor Steven Van Grack, in the contentious 1987 Rockville mayoral race. Duncan went on to become one of the biggest power players in Montgomery County political history, serving as County Executive from 1994 to 2006.
"As we continue to get our message out, I'm humbled and excited that respected leaders are stepping up to support us," Adam Van Grack said Tuesday. "Former County Executive Doug Duncan, former Councilmember John Britton, and former State Senator Mary Boergers have all demonstrated what it means to be effective public servants and community leaders—and I’m proud to have their endorsements."
