However, the restaurant's website is currently down, as well. I know there is a basis in truth for the flooding explanation, because the restaurant indeed closed temporarily in late May, due to water from the apartments upstairs. They then reopened.
We will have to stay tuned here. It would be truly sad to lose Golden Samovar, as we are in great need of Russian and Eastern European restaurants in Montgomery County.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the other person - the food is not at all good. It's clearly some kind of a front. It's always, ALWAYS empty. And as far as Eurasian food goes, it sucks.
ReplyDeleteThey are connected to another Russian business over near Joe's Noodle House that has nothing anyone would ever want to buy (It looks like an antique store). The Samovar "Trucks" are often parked behind that business. A friend and I have speculated this before as well.

DeleteActually, even tho I don't like the food there much, it's not the worst. Their pielmini is good, as is the plov.
ReplyDeleteThe store it's associated with has some of the best pickles around, and a decent local selection of meats and cheeses.
Great food! I've been there twice and wax very satisfied!
ReplyDeleteI ate there several times, and enjoyed their food. We have few restaurants in this ares that serve similar food, so if it were to permanently close, it would be a major loss.
