  1. Another failed business venture becomes a Rockville City Mall, circa 2023. Crime and vacant storefronts reflect the “values” of the County Council. This failure saddens me as it is now like a late 1980s Soviet village, with an ice rink and library and nothing else. Maybe we can sell it for a future Back to the Future movie with the clock tower!

    1. You should really get you facts straight before making a comment. This incident occurred, per the paragraph above, in the 400 block of Hungerford Drive which is north of the Rockville Town Center. It has nothing to do with the current, vibrant activity there. I would assist you by telling you where that is, but you probably have a fixed, dogmatic mindset.

    2. There is no current vibrant activity there Norm. There was at one time for about 5 years. 14 stores/businesses/restaurants all closed there in succession BEFORE the pandemic.

  2. Parking garages are great places to get mugged, robbed or raped as they have bad lighting and NO security. One would think that in todays world that the City would supply security for such areas if they really wanted people to visit Rockville Center, other than those that live in walking distance. This is called poor planning and lack of planning on the part of the City Council, which seems to have lots of problems. For one way to many people were shouting defund the police and did not think of the consequences of doing that.

    1. This incident has nothing to do with the City and its responsibility to police "private property", nor does it reflect on the planning by Council. The lack of complete information here creates the illusion that this is the fault of government. NOT! Police can only patrol public streets, and private parking lots, not private parking structures. Apparently you are not familiar with this area, or are misled by the RTC identification as being were the crime occurred.

    2. So hold the property owners accountable for the crimes?

    3. 10:23AM - You are now posing an absurd question. You, under your question could be held responsible for a crime committed on your property. Crime is a problem of society and, yes, society pays for it with public protection, but is not held accountable. Just try an sue them.
