Restoration Hardware opening RH Outlet in Rockville

Restoration Hardware will open an RH Outlet store in Rockville next week. The store is taking over the vacant Bed Bath & Beyond building at 1519 Rockville Pike, in the Congressional North shopping center. As you can see in the photos below, inventory is being loaded into the store ahead of next week's opening. RH Outlet is the clearance store for the California-based furniture company.

The clearance store offers savings up to 80%-off regular RH prices. New furnishings, lighting fixtures, textiles, and home decor are added to the store's inventory daily. The Rockville store's opening date is scheduled for Thursday, December 19, 2024.

The Bed Bath & Beyond store was recently home to Spirit Halloween this fall. You can see a plush carpet has been added to the sales floor by RH since Spirit vacated. A developer has proposed replacing the big box store structure with an apartment building, but the arrival of RH Outlet suggests that project is still at least a few years off.

Sneak peek inside Spirit Halloween in Rockville (Photos)

Spirit Halloween
looks like it is getting closer to opening day in Rockville. This year, the pop-up Halloween costume and decor retailer is in the former Bed Bath & Beyond building at 1519 Rockville Pike, at the Congressional North shopping center. I see quite a number of Nightmare Before Christmas items up front. A sign states that "We happily accept refunds through October 18, exchanges through October 24. All sales final after October 24."

Spirit Halloween haunting soon in Rockville

Spirit Halloween
temporary banner signage has been attached to the front of the former Bed Bath & Beyond store at 1519 Rockville Pike, at the Congressional North shopping center. The windows are still covered, hiding whatever ghoulish merchandise is being stocked on the pop-up costume and decor shop's displays. Of course, the vacant big box store was likely already haunted by some ghosts of its own, perhaps by spectral versions of the Big Blue coupons that many experts claimed were the demise of the chain's retail operations. A developer would like to put the empty building out of its misery by tearing it down, but not before at least one more scare by Spirit Halloween this fall!

Rockville Bed Bath & Beyond store could be replaced with apartment building

A developer has proposed constructing an apartment building on the site of the vacant Bed Bath & Beyond store at 1519 Rockville Pike, at the Congressional North shopping center in Rockville. The apartment development would be seven stories in height, with ground floor retail space, and structured parking. These plans have not yet been formally filed with the City of Rockville, and public meetings will be held regarding the proposal.

Bed Bath & Beyond closed a year ago. The chain went bankrupt and all of its stores were shuttered. Overstock acquired the brand, and it continues as an online business. Spirit Halloween plans to use the empty Rockville Bed Bath & Beyond building for its Halloween pop-up store this fall.

Signage installed at Pines of Rome Express, opening soon in Rockville

Signage has been installed at Pines of Rome Express at 121 Congressional Lane at the Congressional North Plaza shopping center in Rockville. It's in the form of an awning with the flag colors of Italy; a second sign provides the URL for the Pines of Rome website. The new offshoot of the landmark Bethesda Italian restaurant is hoping to open on July 5, 2023. Popular with generations of Bethesda residents since its opening in 1972, the original Pines of Rome is best known for its white pizza.

Bethesda's Pines of Rome to open Rockville location

Pines of Rome
, the Italian restaurant that has been a Bethesda institution since 1972, is expanding to Rockville this summer. The second Pines of Rome will be located at 121 Congressional Lane, behind Mykonos Grill, in the Congressional North Plaza. A spokesperson for the restaurant said they have a tentative opening date of July 5, 2023, if all goes according to plan. Bethesda's favorite white pizza will now enter the pizza wars in Rockville, alongside the classic Italian dishes that have kept customers and families coming back for more than two generations.

Buy Buy Baby, Bed Bath & Beyond closing in Rockville

Buy Buy Baby
is closing its Rockville store at 1683 Rockville Pike, in the Congressional Plaza shopping center. A store-closing sale is underway. Savings are currently listed as being 20-40%-off storewide. All 122 Buy Buy Baby stores are closing as a result of parent company Bed Bath & Beyond's bankruptcy filing.

Bed Bath & Beyond
just happens to be a neighbor of Buy Buy Baby at 1519 Rockville Pike at the Congressional North shopping center. It's having its own closing sale. The savings are - surprise! - 20-40%-off storewide, as well.

Five Below sets opening date in Rockville

The new Five Below store at the Congressional North shopping center on Rockville Pike will open on June 14, 2019. As you can see, the sign is now in place above the storefront. Here's a sneak peek inside the new store, which sells "cool stuff for $5 or less." Think of it as an upscale dollar store.

Demolition begins for Aldi in Rockville (Photos)

If you thought Aldi was just going to convert the old Circuit City/hh gregg building on Rockville Pike into their new Rockville grocery store, think again. Instead, major demolition is underway at the site. I'm starting to question if they will meet the projected 2018 store opening as promised at this point. The store site is located in the Congressional North shopping center.
