Performance Bicycle Shop closing in Rockville

The "Everything Must Go!" and "Nothing held back!" going-out-of-business signs that have become so ubiquitous in moribund Montgomery County have popped up at Congressional Plaza on Rockville Pike. Performance Bicycle Shop is the latest victim. The store is holding a closing sale with prices up to 40% off. Montgomery County has suffered a net loss of more than 2100 retail jobs since 2000, according to the Maryland Retailers Association.

  5. Yea, but getting all shrill about the "Moribund" County is such a better sound bite than the truth about all the stores closing nation wide.

  10. So many losses at Federal Realty's moribund property. Tower Records, Whole Foods, now Performance Bicycles. Probably Hallmark any day now, too.

  11. "Montgomery County has lost its competitive edge" is the headline of a recent WaPo article about the loss of Amazon headquarters.

    3. Yeah I guess you're right,MS-13 must be all part of my imagination.I probably imagined that a 20 year old female MS-13 was given 95 years prison time in Montgomery County a few months ago.Oh,and I'm sure that I was a mistake when the local media reported that an 18 year old man was killed by being stabbed 156 times right off the street I grew up on in Gaithersburg.Brown people wearing blue shoes.Didnt Elvis Presley sing a song about Blue Shoes?

  13. Have you been banned in Gaithersburg? Sam Eig has been dead for as long as the man himself now. There's a lot of non-moribund action in that city that you're ignoring. The latest being the grand opening of the newest dining and nightlife (your favorite activity) spot Yard House. What no freebies for you Scary Moochie?

    1. 2:16: You're correct that Yard House failed to invite me to any press events prior to the opening. I don't know that they even held any, though. If they did and failed to do their homework about the local media, that would make them look foolish, not me. Never heard from them. Wasn't invited. Marketing 101.

  15. The following quote comes directly from the webpage of Performance Bicycle. "The parent company of Performance Bicycle has entered into Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and as a result there have been significant changes to our businesses. Currently, all Performance Bicycle stores are holding Store Closing Sales. Here is what it means for you, our valued customers:"
To suggest that the closing of this location or any other located in Montgomery County, and thus blame said closings on a "Moribund" economy shows an extreme lack of research, and poor journalism on the part of this reporter. Without knowing the facts, you lash out at a government body repeatedly blaming it for the state of retail or employment conditions.
You will never get elected to any position when your dismal background in terms of the simple facts, mirrors that of the sad current occupant of the White House. Simply put, you ignore the truth repeated.

    1. 12:12: Get a load of our resident troll, in tears because I've brought the truth about his corrupt employers out in the open. But it's not just me - the Washington Post, Washington Business Journal and Sage Policy Group have all started to admit what I've been reporting for years - Montgomery County's economy is moribund.

The official U.S. Government statistics definitively show that Montgomery County is even being beaten by Culpeper and Rappahannock counties in the 21st century. Humiliating!

While I might "never get elected" when your dismal Washington Post colludes with your bosses to never report on my candidacy, Donald Trump is still your president.

    2. What do "the Washington Post, Washington Business Journal, Sage Policy Group, official U.S. Government statistics, Culpeper and Rappahannock counties" have to do with the price of tea in China?

This chain is closing ALL OF ITS STORES, NATIONWIDE.
