Four thieves stole items from Ulta Beauty at 1631 Rockville Pike at Congressional Plaza yesterday, June 15, 2023. Around 4:30 PM, the suspects fled the store in a vehicle. Rockville City police pursued the vehicle into the area of Rollins Park. When the suspects attempted to bail out of the getaway car, officers took two into custody, and the other two remain at large. RCPD announced that the two suspects who were captured will face unspecified charges.
How much did they steal? If it was under $100, they probably won’t be charged. If it was under $1000, they'll be charged with theft between $100 and $1000, which is actually not a big deal unless they have priors, which they probably do. Over $1000, they will have problems. Running from the cops may bring additional charges. They should have remained on scene. I'm not a lawyer, just a shoplifter, so I may have this completely wrong.

ReplyDeleteShoplifting is indeed a profession. I am in retail and these new shoplifters give the old ones a bad name. They used to give up when they got got caught, but now they try and play victim.
