Rockville construction update: Phase II of Rockville Town Center (Photos)

Groundbreaking for the new Duball, LLC development atop land that formerly housed the last half of Rockville Town Center's largest parking lot took place April 29. You can see the tent that was used for the ceremony in many of the photos here. The 400-unit apartment building will have 150 units set aside as affordable housing for seniors. Delivery of the 18-story tower is expected in 2021. Duball was also the developer of the Cambria Suites hotel and Upton apartments across the street.

  1. Thanks for the update. Looks like they're driving piles for the excavation.

  2. I doubt that many of the other apartments/condos in Rockville Town Center are filled. Not to mention more businesses are closing up -- Little Dipper, Lab Cafe, and rumor has it, even Buffalo Wild Wings and newly-opened Kabuto are in trouble. Will more apartments save these businesses?

    1. You're right, Anon. Clearly the owners are building a new apartment building next to their existing apartment building because the vacancy rate is so high. Thanks for your insight. Lol.

  3. 400 new units with an average 1 car per unit will put 400 MORE cars on the streets of Rockville with NO expansion of current roads! QUIT BUILDING UPWARD !

    1. It's idiotic to think 400 units will each have a car. For one, 150 units are for low-income seniors. Educate yourself on the project before speaking, please.
