Rockville bar patron steals employee's car after arguing with staff

A disgruntled patron at a bar in Rockville argued with bar staff, then later retaliated by allegedly stealing one of the employees' cars. Rockville City police say that the suspect jawed with employees, then snatched a set of car keys from one of their jackets, and stole that employee's vehicle from outside the establishment. The vehicle theft was reported at a bar on Seven Locks Road around 2:00 AM on the morning of March 1, 2024. Police have not released a description of the suspect.

Hello Betty boat bar opens for summer in Rockville

The boat bar has opened for summer at Hello Betty, the new seafood restaurant at Pike & Rose. It is located inside the Canopy by Hilton hotel at 940 Rose Avenue. But you can take a short cut right to the bar through the blue and yellow door on the Grand Park Avenue side of the hotel. A christening ceremony will be held for the boat bar - and, yes, it is a real boat - on May 26, 2022 at 7:00 PM, and will include a complimentary champagne toast.

Hooters closes in Rockville (Photos)

Hooters of Rockville abruptly closed yesterday, more than a month earlier than originally announced. The bar was due to close November 1 after reaching a deal with Montgomery County to not renew its liquor license. That agreement followed the tragic incident in which a patron of the popular Rockville Pike restaurant struck and killed County police officer Noah Leotta after consuming alcohol there.

The driver pled guilty after the wreck, and the future of the restaurant was in doubt prior to the deal being worked out with a Hooters lawyer.

All signage at Hooters was gone by yesterday evening, with a ghostly imprint of their famous owl logo still visible on the window despite its removal.

First look: World of Beer in Rockville (Photos)

Here's a sneak peek inside World of Beer in Rockville Town Center. The restaurant a beer list numbering 500 brews is scheduled to open on May 30 at 11:00 AM. 

World of Beer is located at 196 E. Montgomery Avenue, on the ground floor of the Upton apartments (which has a public parking garage; the entrance is steps away around the corner from World of Beer on Helen Heneghan Way).

Beer lovers rejoice - there is now an opening date for the restaurant and bar promising us a selection of 500 brews. World of Beer will open on Monday, May 30, at 11:00 AM at 196 E. Montgomery Avenue in Rockville Town Center. It is located in the ground floor of the Upton apartments/Cambria Hotel and Suites building across from the Regal Cinemas.

The signage is up at the future World of Beer, at the corner of E. Montgomery Avenue and Helen Heneghan Way in Rockville Town Center. Work continues on the interior build-out, although the real work may be how to stock 500 different beers under the Montgomery County Government liquor monopoly.

The long wait for one of several delayed openings at Rockville Town Square is finally here. Finnegan's Wake, a rare Irish pub in Rockville, will open this afternoon at 4:00 PM on Gibbs Street.
