Signage installed at Pines of Rome Express, opening soon in Rockville

Signage has been installed at Pines of Rome Express at 121 Congressional Lane at the Congressional North Plaza shopping center in Rockville. It's in the form of an awning with the flag colors of Italy; a second sign provides the URL for the Pines of Rome website. The new offshoot of the landmark Bethesda Italian restaurant is hoping to open on July 5, 2023. Popular with generations of Bethesda residents since its opening in 1972, the original Pines of Rome is best known for its white pizza.

Colony Grill now hiring in Potomac

Colony Grill
is taking another step toward opening its first Maryland pizzeria at 11325 Seven Locks Road at Cabin John Village in Potomac. The pizza parlor is now hiring staff for all positions. A QR code has been posted inside the window of the business, but your phone may be able to recognize from one of these photos if you are lucky.

The furniture that was in plastic wrap at the beginning of June is now unwrapped, and in place. Should you be excited to hear an opening date? Remember, Davey Pageviews gave Colony Grill's hot oil pizza an 8.4!!! Everybody knows the rules!

Update on Colony Grill pizzeria at Cabin John Village in Potomac (Photos)

I have a big update on the Colony Grill at 11325 Seven Locks Road in Potomac. Look at the incredible progress that has been made inside just over the last several weeks. A new sign has been attached on the exterior of the pizzeria, as well. Furniture is still in the wrapper inside, and the outdoor patio space has not yet been set up. Stay tuned for an opening date! Here is a look at the progress of work over the last few weeks, in chronological order:

Rockville Wegmans construction update, Twinbrook Quarter apartments branded "The Milton" (Photos)

The Wegmans grocery store-anchored Phase 1 building of B.F. Saul's Twinbrook Quarter development continues to progress towards completion at 1592 Rockville Pike. Among the latest news updates, the biggest is the revealed branding of the residential component of the building. The apartments are now being marketed as "The Milton." A new amenity for the building's residents has also been announced: a full-size, resort-style pool, with private cabanas.

Construction is now moving to the phase of applying the brick facade, which will utilize different colors of brick to add visual interest and define sections of the building. This can already be seen along the Chapman Avenue side of the property. Also outside, underground utilities are being installed, as are sidewalks, curbs, and traffic signals.

Inside the building, interior wall studs, water and sewer pipes, mechanical ductwork and electrical systems are now being put into place. Ahead for the summer, installation of exterior walls and window glass will be two major projects. A 2024 delivery is anticipated for Wegmans and The Milton.

Sneak peek: Capo Deli opening soon in Potomac (Photos)

Another day means another look at yet one more great dining addition to Cabin John Village in Potomac. Today, we're taking a sneak peek inside Capo Deli, opening soon at 7731 Tuckerman Lane. Founded by former Brickside Food & Drink co-owners Brian Vasile and Andy Seligman, the local Italian deli chain now has three locations in the region: Shaw and Western Market in Washington, D.C., and Tysons.

Capo came to most people's attention via mass media coverage of its adult Capri Sun "Fauci Pouchy" cocktail early in the pandemic lockdown of 2020. It's still on the cocktail menu. A modest list of classic Italian dishes join an extensive selection of sandwiches - and, yes, cannoli is on the dessert menu.

Colony Grill coming soon to Cabin John Village Center in Potomac (Photos)

The lineup of restaurants being assembled at the Cabin John Village Center in Potomac is simply amazing. Here comes another one - the first Maryland location of the Colony Grill. It doesn't sound like a pizzeria, but that's exactly what is. Colony Grill has been serving its famous "hot oil bar pie" pizza since 1935 in Stamford, Connecticut.

There are 12 toppings you can put on this very-thin crust pizza that intentionally carries less cheese and sauce than the typical American pizza - but one with just the pepper-infused hot oil sauce is what the owners recommend. They also have a full-service bar with TVs. You can see they are also going to have a nice, elevated outdoor dining area for summer breezes.

The permanent sign is up outside the pizzeria. Inside, construction is well advanced. How good is the pizza at Colony Grill? Davey Pageviews gave it an 8.4 out of 10, high praise from a very tough pizza critic. Everybody knows the rules!

Signage installed at Rockville Pike Animal Hospital

It was over a year ago that Rockville Pike Animal Hospital announced it would be opening at 12248 Rockville Pike, in the Towne Plaza development. But on Monday, the permanent signage was installed on the building facade. This will be a benefit to pet owners in the many apartment buildings located near Towne Plaza on, and parallel to, Rockville Pike. Does that ATM now accept Milk Bones?

Chase bank "coming soon" in Rockville

A long-planned Chase bank branch at 460 Hungerford Drive (MD 355) in Rockville is "coming soon," according to a banner posted at the construction site. The historic Jack Sullivan-designed commercial building on the property that was most-recently home to Meixin Supermarket has been demolished. Some parking signs for the Chinese grocery store remain intact, however. The bank will have a drive-thru, and is just north of Rockville Town Square and Walgreens.
