Potential future site of
Rockwood Mews in Rockville
Frederick-based developer Matan Companies has proposed a 103-townhome development for a forested site adjacent to an office park in Rockville. The site, near the intersection of W. Gude Drive and Frederick Road (MD 355) is across the street from Ourisman's Rockmont Chevrolet. Rockwood Mews is the preliminary name for the development.

The applicant proposes to leave 3.30 acres of the forest in place, according to the site plan. A portion of the development will also take part of the parking lot for the existing office park. 13 of the townhomes will be set aside as affordable MPDUs.

Rockwood Mews would also be adjacent to King Farm to the north, separated by the forest buffer. It is located within the Watts Branch watershed area. The site is 4.4 miles from the Shady Grove Metro station parking lot, and 2.4 miles from the Rockville Metro station via MD 355.

  2. Exactly. This county has an inexplicable desire to stamp out the few remaining pockets of forest down county.

    1. Your finger is pointing in the wrong direction. This site is a city of Rockville development, not in the county.

  3. "The site is 4.4 miles from the Shady Grove Metro station parking lot, and 2.4 miles from the Rockville Metro station via MD 355" I find this extremely hard to believe. According to Google map its 2.1 and 2.8 respectively. Get your info straight.
