World of Beer sets opening date in Rockville

Beer lovers rejoice - there is now an opening date for the restaurant and bar promising us a selection of 500 brews. World of Beer will open on Monday, May 30, at 11:00 AM at 196 E. Montgomery Avenue in Rockville Town Center. It is located in the ground floor of the Upton apartments/Cambria Hotel and Suites building across from the Regal Cinemas.

  1. This is the most STUPID thing I have ever seen. Why would any business person with a brain, decide to open a BEER business in Rockville Town Center the DAY AFTER Hometown Holidays, an event where THOUSANDS come to Rockville… many to DRINK BEER. The scheduled opening of “World of Beer” is ONE HOUR prior to the end of ALL Rockville Memorial Day festivities (the parade ends Monday noon and all go home almost immediately). WHY is the World (of Beer) wouldn’t they have scheduled to open on Friday, May 27th or Saturday, May 28th?

  2. Probably the same reason the Irish pub couldn't open before St. Paddy's day -- a backlog of inspections because staff positions have gone unfilled.

    1. That's the ticket, blame the government when something goes wrong. You probably have no facts to back this up, so you should back off. The city of Rockville has ample inspection crews that conduct a thorough job, prior to granting a business an occupancy permit. Know the facts before you speak.

  3. If the City of Rockville is preventing these business from opening until AFTER Hometown Holidays, that is a SCAM.

  4. It could be a liquor license or inspection issue which is holding them up. I guarantee they will be serving prior to 11am Monday. They aren't getting deliveries over Memorial Day weekend. All their beer is likely arriving on or before Friday, which means they should be ready to open the doors for the first time on Saturday or Sunday after they unpack case boxes and organize the keg cooler. They probably want to "soft open" over the weekend and can easily cover up any hiccups in service those first days by saying their official opening isn't until Monday. Relax.

  5. Meanwhile, Ruby Tuesday has shut it's doors further down the Pike. As Dyer, er Nero, fiddles Rome burns.
